Appearance: Rans hair is made of heavy curls, almost as if they were wet, and if he didn't keep his hair relativly short (chin-length) it would probably be corkscrew-curls at its finest. His hair is blonde in colour, and his eyes are blue as the ocean. He has a very thin and slender build, seemingly having no muscle at all. His face is adorned with big eyes, topped with heavy eyelids and thick eyelashes. His lips are lucious and full.
When it comes to clothing Ran always wears his captians-outfit, with a few slight modifications. First of all his captains-haori has a hood on it, and he wears his clothes very tight, not showing any part of his body most often. He also wears a couple of black gloves and whenever he is not in his lab he adornes a bone-white mask without any facial features. This mask is made out of hollows bones. Underneath all of this is a thin but very hard armour made from compressed reiatsu and a few other materials, almost mimicing a arrancars hierro.
Scars/Tattoos: On his stomach and the same area on his back, where he was once penetrated by a Cero at point blank range. All other scars he has been very keen on removing with surgery and the like.
Left/right handed: Ambidexterous, as a good scientis should be.
Personality: Rans most prominent trait is how he distances himself from others. He always takes a stance higher than his fellow shinigamis, seemingly looking at everybody and all as merely testsubjects or puppets. He also thinks the world is a very dirty place, not wanting to dirty himself by coming into contact with it. This has earned him the nickname: Emperor of Knowledge, part from his attitude and deamenor, and part for him being the leader of the research-department.
He has a vastly different side, however: If you catch him in his lab, he will be a friendly, social person that will more than willingly help you. Although, thanks to not many people knowing how he looks, because of his mask, many people mistake this person for one of Rans assistants. While in his labs he also displays several neurotic behaviours, such as wanting to measure everybody, and the likes.

History: Born from a high-ranking, japanese nobleman, Ran always had a weak and sick body. Despite this he was forced in learning the ways of the samurai, at the same time being imprinted with the will and values of his arrogant father. Ran learnt to become a noble and arrogant bastard, one who got to wield a sword. Despite this he was never talented in any way, having a sick and almost dead body, unable to become strong. This was also what caused his death, as he tried to defend himself against robbers while on a trip to mount fuji. He was easily captured, stripped from all his belongings, raped and then killed.
Ran spent the first years of living in Rukongai without any will to live. Hade he not been soul buried, he would have most probably become a powerful hollow, but Shinigami had made it in time. He lived only because he was reborn in a kind neigbourhood and people took pity on him, giving him food and shelter. One day he found a creepy-looking puppet in an alley, and that same night his zanpakuto-spirit contacted him through dreams. The form of a scare-crow clad in the clothes of an emperor spoke to him and told him not to give up, that he had a great destiny ahead of him.
Soon enough, he was found by Shinigami who had felt his reiatsu move during many nights of dreams and conversations with his zanpakuto-spirit. He did not know that it was at the school for shinigami he would meet his first friends.
He turned out to be one of the youngest applicants to the Shinigami-academy, and the teachers were worried about his abornamly high reiatsu. It turns out that what Ran lacked in physical strength, his soul made up in reiatsu, and he was considered a genius in terms of spiritual power. This also proved itself in his zanpakutos apperance (see below). Ran was shunned by others of his class, for being so powerful without trying, for such is the fate of those at the top: loneliness. Or so he thought, until he was one day approached by Ronin Hakina and Guroni Sataki. These two slightly older students soon became his friends and together they were the three top students of those years, until their graduation.

Ronin Hakina turned out to be a particular genius in all areas, and she ascended to captain-level in merely a year after graduation, having already reached bankai before that. She was captain of the 1st division, Sataki was enrolled in the 11th division and easily climbed the ranks all the way up to third-seat. Ran, who had always been a talent in kidou and had a very creative mind was drafted into the 12th sqaud, hoping to one day join the Kidou-corps.
It took merely fifteen years, and then Hakina was chosen to join the 0-division, the royal guard. She accepted and Sataki, together with Ran, had to bid her farewell. By then Ran was vice-captain of the 12th division, having found so much interest in research and development that he had given up on the kidou-corps.
It was during a joint mission, eight years later, between the 12th and the 11th (as bodyguards) that the exploration-team was attacked by a group of powerfull arrancar. Sataki defended the weaker Ran with all his power, and as their comrades fell the two of them stood back to back, severly outnumbered. Ran unleashed his bankai for the first time, and although it was not quite mature he managed to dispatch all of the arrancar, but Sataki seemed to have died. As Ran, weeping, tried to examine his friend body he found that Satakis face was covered in a white mask, realising what had happened, Ran tried to seal the other shinigami, but too late- Sataki got up, drunk with his new immense power, and attacked Ran without mercy. In the fight Ran got a Cero straight through his body, barely surviving before a rescue-team arrived and Sataki fled.

Ability: This ability uses the rings to block and absorb attacks that aren't merely physical, such as kidou or Menos' Cero/bala. One ore more rings (depending on the strength of the attack) move themselves in the way of the attack, effectivly absorbing the reiatsu in the attack, making it null and void.

Ability: This ability lets Ran channel kidou-spells through the rings, giving him the ability to suddenly attack from another direction or from several directions with one attack. Simply, one ring floats around Ran's wrist as he unleashes the Kidou, he can then choose from any one of the other rings, from wich the spell will effectivly appear. He can also split the attack into many rings, lowering the effect of each part, but giving it a bigger hit-rate.

Ability: The shikais most effective ability. Ran sends one ring to latch itself around an enemys neck, wrist or similar extremity. When this is achieved, the enemies reiatsu will be clogged and stopped from usage. The enemy will be totally blocked from his spiritual powers, and if he tries to force the ring off- The pressure of reiatsu will make his body explode. The ring can only be removed by the help of a partner.

Bankai Name: Shineihei no Hijirinomiyo [Bodyguard of the Imperial Reign]
Bankai appearance: The ten rings become smaller, each one finding its place on one of Rans fingers. From each ring, a beam of reiatsu shoots, summoning a figure hooded in a white cloak, all of them with different masks on. These are puppets and they are all outfitted with different weapons, as well as owning great physical strength and durability. Ran can freely controll these puppets without any difficulty and they will even automatically respond to threats that come to close to his body. (Will add a complete list of the puppets names and weapons if the char gets OK'd. )

Ability: The ability for one or more puppets to perform kidou. This can be used for many powerful variations, although the spells cost considerably much more reiatsu to use.

Ability: Five or more puppets open their mouths and start to absorb all reiatsu around them, even from attacks and opponents themselves. This is then used to restore Rans reiatsu and heal his wounds. The downside is that the puppets have to stand still, and at least five of them have to perform this technique.

Ability: This ability is constantly activated and Shineihei no Hijirinomiyo's greatest strength. The puppets all have thousands of sensors and the like on them, constantly gaining information about the enemys reiatsu, body and techniques. All this information is sent to Ran, letting him quickly come of with new plans. Although the ability does not give him any boost or the like, he considers it his greatest power, seeing as he can easily figure out many things about his opponents. The longer the fight goes on, the more he gains on his enemies.
Duration: as long as the bankai is activated.

"I must say that you people alluded me for a long time."
The fifteen vizards that were sitting around the table suddenly janked up to their feet at the sight of the Shinigami who entered the dark room. He was clad in a white hood-like haori, and a mask without features covered his face. Only a few blond curls of hair could be seen of his head. His clothes fluttered carelessly as he floated further into the room, seemingly not that bothered by all the vizards now at their guard.
"Shinigami. Or should I say Captain? You have a lot of guts coming in here without any partners."
"Do not mistake me, I have indeed come here to kill you all-"
At those words the vizard sprang into action, drawing their swords and attacking, three of them came at him at once, the room was too small for more. "My underlings would merely destroy the samples." The captains voice became grim, commanding and a dark aura erupted from his form. It was so great that the three battle-hardened vizards stopped in their tracks, and two of the weaker once even began shaking, almost falling to their knees.
First distraction: Success.
"Gechi Shitajita, Hijirinomiyo " Suddenly the ten swords at the shinigamis hips lit up, shooting out in rings of reiatsu that soon formed into ten rings of gold-adorned steel. The vizards came to their senses again, zanpakuto-names were called and maskes were donned, the room filled with extremly dense reiatsu, but suddenly almost half of it dissapeared as five of the vizard got rings placed around their necks.
"I have no time for low quality samples." Ran spoke softly as he flickered from his spot up on the table. At the same time the five vizards exploded from their internal spiritual pressure being forced to much. Three vizards surrounded Ran, but their weapons were blocked by swift-flying rings. The ten remaining hollow-hybrids quickly began jumping from spot to spot, attacking and retreating in groups of three, all attacks were blocked without the captain even moving a finger, the rings seemingly flying by themselfs.
"Byakurai." Ran uttered solemnly, raising one pointed finger. The room filled with white light as ten small lightingbolts shot, each from every ring, hitting or grazeing the remaining Vizard. Inside this small room Ran had all the advantages, being only one person with a zanpakuto designed for defense and taking on more than one enemy.
Six of the remaining vizard stood up, panting and holding their swords in tired hands.
"You seem shocked. None of you were ever captain-level, and despite having hollowified, you have not evolved very far. Now, I shall take you all to my lab, you have been deamed worthy of my attention."
"FUCK YOU!!" One of the opponents yelled, once more donning his horned mask before jumping at Ran. He was incredibly quick, dodging the rings and swinging at Ran, his sword seemed able to cleave the small man in two.
But it stopped against his waist without doing any damage except for a cut in the scientists haori. The vizard gasped, and tried to pull back, but he was too slow. Three of the rings flew out, smashing his legs and his back, he fell down in a lump of flesh.
"What!? WHy couldn't Reiji hurt him!?"
"Its the reiatsu... It's just too much difference... And... He has some sort of armour underneath his clothes."
"A correct deduction, Vizard." Ran congratulated. "Such is the way of the intelligent. Now. Bow."
Suddenly, five seals lit up underneatht he feet of the vizards, they didn't have any time to dodge before the sound of glass breaking suddenly filled the room. The five vizards had been encased in crystal, unmoving and terrified.
"Perfect." Ran commented to himself, stepping down from the table as his zanpakuto reverted to their sword-forms.
Everything had gone just as he had calculated.
That was his first act as the captain of the 12th division, none of the vizards knew about Sataki, however.
